Prof. Oliver Kartak
Oliver Kartak, born in Vienna in 1968, has been working in the areas of brand identity, communication design, photography, and film direction for 20 years. In the early 1990s he established DMC Wien together with Hubert Schillhuber and Neville Brody and as creative director and designer he was in charge of the channel identities of the television stations VIVA, VIVA2, TM3, and HOT. In 1998 he opened his own office in Vienna; directing jobs for advertising films, the music industry, and television magazines followed. Photographic works were published in Purple Magazine (Paris), Baby Magazine (Amsterdam), and Dazed and Confused. In 2006 his first feature film was broadcast by Austrian broadcaster ORF. As professor, Kartak has been in charge of the graphic design class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (www.klassekartak.com) since 2007. In 2008 he designed the corporate identity for Red Bull Mobile Television and in 2009 the new design of TV1000 Viasat in cooperation with DMC München. He has received several awards for his works, from the CCA, Art Directors Club Germany, ARC Award NY, Trend Austrian Annual Report Award, and the Art Directors Club NY.
